Auto Body Damage Repair Bentonville, AR | Brown’s Collision Center

There are many types of body damages caused by collision that can happen to your car. The most common type of damage and one we can do little to control is wear and tear. For this type of damage, it doesn’t matter how careful you are on the road, it just happens. For instance, as time passes, the paint will come off. That’s natural. You can’t stop it!

We want to bring your attention to some of the less common categories of collision repair that we specialize in at Brown’s Collision Center.

  • Primary damage

Also known as direct auto body damage, primary damage is the damage resulting from a headstrong auto collision. The impact of a collision will usually result in the biggest area of visible damage on your car. Primary damages are assessed by determining the direction of the collision. Once this direction is determined, we can then determine the full extent of direct damage.

  • Secondary damage

Secondary auto body damage is the damage to other areas of the car rather than the hit area. For instance, if you collide with a large vehicle in ahead-on collision, the impact may be so strong that the lights at the back might get broken. Other parts of the car such as the doors can also get jammed after a collision even if they were not directly hit.

Secondary damages are further classified into two categories; visible and concealed.

  • Visible damages

Visible secondary auto body damages are the damages that are easily seen by the eye. The headlights case above is an excellent example. Another good example is a scratch from a low impact collision or a fender bender. Dings and dents also fall into this category. We have the capacity to quickly assess and fix these damages.

  • Concealed damages

Concealed secondary damages are damages that may not be visible to the eye outright. These types of damages need further assessment. For instance, a collision may cause wheel misalignment. But you can’t tell this until special tools are used to check the wheels. Collisions can also cause the engine to break loose. If further assessments are not done, such damage may remain unknown and unfixed. This can be extremely dangerous for car owners.
